On the Road to Nationals!

Dawn Washington (center), current Business Professionals of America HPTC president, placed first in Advanced Interview Skills, fifth in Administrative Support Team, and sixth in Information Technology Concepts. Dawn also received special recognition for her leadership and service qualities by receiving the Statesman's Torch Award. Dawn will be representing HPTC at the BPA National Leadership Conference in Reno, Nevada in May.

HPTC Students of the Month

Jessica Hamill is a Woodward High School Senior enrolled in the Marketing program. She is the daughter of Keith and Carrie Hamill. Jessica states that the Marketing program has taught her how to become a better leader and she has learned a great deal about the Marketing field. After graduation, Jessica plans to get her massage therapy license and pursue a career in that field.
Michael Schroeder is a Gage High School Senior enrolled in the Welding program. He is the son of Tony and Shelly Schroeder. Michael feels that he has become a better welder and the program has helped him decide on a career.

Amber Ketron is an adult student enrolled in the Business Information Technology Education (BITE) program. Amber states that the BITE program has given her the skills and knowledge to find a career. It has also helped build confidence in herself as well as increase her communication skills.

Ben Renfro is an adult student enrolled in the Welding program. Ben states that Career-Tech has taught him a good work ethic, discipline, and the skills and ability to provide properly for his family. Ben's goal is to obtain work in the welding field.


Amy Ramirez is a Mooreland High School Senior enrolled in the Marketing Program. She is the daughter of Shelby & Randy Owens. Amy expresses that Marketing has taught her how to deal with real-life situations After graduation, she plans to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University and play softball.
Mindy Branson is an adult student enrolled in the BITE program. She feels like her time at HPTC has her develop confidence. After school, Mindy plans to open her own web design company.

Abby Peterman is a Woodward High School Senior enrolled in the Service Careers program.

Gary Babb is a Woodward High School Senior enrolled in the Automotive program. He is the son of Marvin and Marla Babb. Gary feels that the Automotive program has helped him establish a foothold in the world of auto mechanics.
Shawn Lehr is an adult student enrolled in the Medium/Heavy Duty Truck program. He is the son of Steve and Sheila Lehr. Shawn indicates that the Medium/Heavy Duty Truck program has opened his eyes to the wide variety of job opportunities and taught him a lot about Diesel Mechanics.

Ryan Irvin is a Sharon-Mutual High School Senior enrolled in the Construction Trades program. He is the son of Donie and Angela Irvin. Ryan feels the Construction Trades program has taught him how to work well with wood.
Lance Highfill is a Woodward High School Senior enrolled in the Marketing Management program. Lance indicates that the Marketing program has helped prepare him for college and to succeed in life.

David Parada is a Woodward High School Senior enrolled in the Welding program. David is the son of David and Alma Parada. His career goals are to own his own business and have a lot of work. David feels that Career Tech has enhanced his life through skills such as team leadership and how to take a project from concept to finish.
Jeremy Kulow is an adult student enrolled in the Information Technology program. He plans on continuing his education at OSU-Okmulgee after he completes his HPTC program. Jeremy indicates that Career Tech has helped prepare him for a career as an I.T. professional.

Tye Mitchell is an adult student enrolled in the Health Occupations Program. She is a committed and productive member of the community. Along with being a full time student, she is a mother and a wife. Tye describes her experience in the Health Science program as one that has strengthened her sense of self-confidence and helped to empower her to strive toward greater goals in life.
Sean Douglass is a Senior at Gage High School.
