The Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Training Center
Curriculum used for oil and gas training is developed at High Plains Technology
Center. In developing training courses, the center works with the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), the Association of Energy Service Contractors (AESC), and the Energy Training Council (ETC), as well as many other organizations, companies and individuals.
High Plains has been designated by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) as the official Mid-Continent site for oil and gas training. Thistraining area includes all of Oklahoma, eastern Colorado, Kansas, Western Arkansas, and much of Texas. The cost of the training is paid by the DOL through June 2008.
Oil and gas skills with embedded safety practices for those working in the industry are a major focus of this program. Certifications earned in the curriculum areas may include: CPR/First Aid, Forklift Operations, ETC (trademark), and RigPass (a registered trademark of the IADC). Those completing the training receive a certificate of completion upon achieving the competencies associated with each course. Courses are typically five days (40 hours) in length.
