Wind Technician Training

Northwest Oklahoma is right in the middle of wind development in the United States, and in 2009, High Plains Technology Center became the first career tech center in the state to offer a wind technician training program, leading the renewable energy training initiative in Oklahoma.

Safety is embedded throughout each module taught at High Plains, and is our highest priority. We guarantee our students leave with the skills necessary to become an entry-level wind energy technician. Our niche is to provide potential wind techs with a hands-on, fast track training experience.

Students must be in excellent physical condition and due to rescue manufacturer"s equipment must weigh 265lbs or less. The program is taught in English, and subject matter includes climing and repelling from heights.

16 weeks, monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

certifications
Each student receives the following certifications: Medic First Aid, OSHA 30 HR, Basic Evacuation and Rescue, Confined Space, Defensive Driving, Rough Terrain Forklift, Electrical Metering Safety, Fall Protection/Tower Rescue/Competent Climber, and WorkKeys assessments. In addition, students build resumes and receive assistance in downloading resumes to industry websites.

The next wind technician class is tentatively scheduled for January 5th, 2012. Click below to complete the application prodcess. The training is very intense and class size is limited; therefore only twenty of the best qualified applicants will be accepted. If you have what it takes you're encouraged to complete and submit the application immediately so your name can be placed on the call list.
