Solar Technician Training

solar training tentative start date late fall, 2010
High Plains is currently developing a solar technician training program to include both photovoltaic and thermal installations. Details of the curriculum and program are not available at this time, but if you are interested in possibly attending this training program, we encourage you to submit an application so your name can be placed on a waiting list.

Our solar training initiative will offer a technician certificate level program for installation and maintenance of solar energy. The training will be all encompassing and include a solar array of both photovoltaic and thermal panels. Students will be skilled in multiple areas within solar, thereby increasing their chances of employment upon graduation.

In addition, through the hands-on training exercises, students will gain a thorough understanding of the tools used to complete site evaluations, perform necessary measurements and calculations, and specify balance of system components required to complete a fully functional solar system installation. The 10 hour OSHA course will also be a part of the program. Finally, our curriculum will follow ISPQ (Institute for Sustainable Power Quality) and NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) standards.

For questions related to solar, please contact Michelle Ketcherside at 580-256-6618.
